Mr. Book just finished Camino Island, Camino Winds and Camino Ghosts, all by John Grisham. I will be merging this series into just one review, but will separate out of each book. I don’t normally review fiction books and I’m just going to give general views rather than go into any specifics and spoilers.

CAMINO ISLAND: This was not up to Grisham’s usual standards. There were some good sections of the book, but overall, I’m just giving it a B.

CAMINO WINDS: This was just a bad, uninteresting book. If it didn’t have Grisham’s name attached to it, nobody would have wanted to read. I found that it interesting that one of the negative reviews at Amazon said it was so bad that even reviews that gave it 4 or 5 stars didn’t really like it. I just didn’t check to see if that really was the case. This one definitely earned its F.

I realized that after reading Camino Winds that if Camino Ghosts starts off looking like it’s going to be as bad as the other one, I’m cutting my losses and will stop reading it at some point.

CAMINO GHOSTS: The book wasn’t interesting and I was about to give up on it about half-way through when a legal case emerged. So I decided that was what we read Grisham for, let’s see what happens. Unfortunately, it was extremely obvious that it was a very stupid idea for a lawsuit. Any first year law school would have been able to get the case thrown out of court easily.

The general public would accept legal nonsense in a book like this, but I have passed two bar exams. Suspending disbelief on the basics of how this case didn’t make any sense was too much. But, I wanted to see where Grisham took the case and non-sensical plots, to anyone who had ever walked into a law school classroom, just continued. So, the book got the series second F.

]Goodreads requires grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, the first book’s B equates to 3 stars and the other two’s F’s equate to 1 star. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).
