Mr. Book just finished True Gretch: What I’ve Learned About Life, Leadership And Everything In Between, by Gretchen Whitmer.
I was planning on reading this book sometime this week. It would have randomly chosen from the pool of a group of books to be the next one to be read. But, once the president announced that he was dropping out and Vice President Harris now needs a running mate, this one immediately jumped to the top of the queue. I am a fan of the governor and she is either at the top of my list, or the co-leader, for who I want Harris to select. So, I needed to read this book to see if there was anything in it that would either affirm her place at the top of my list or make me reconsider what I want to see.
Among the best chapters in the book was the one in which Governor Whitmer discussed revealing the fact that she was raped in college during a speech on the floor of the state senate, when she talked about listening to the people of her state, the “kidnapping plot” against her that she correctly pointed out wasn’t a kidnapping plot, it was an assassination plot, and “Shark Week.”
This book confirms that Whitmer belongs at the top of my list and I hope she is at the top of Vice President’s Harris’s list. I see a governor who cares deeply about the people she is representing and an effective communicator.
I give this book an A. Goodreads requires grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, an A equates to 5 stars. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).
