Mr. Book just finished The Court v. The Voters: The Troubling Story Of How The Supreme Court Has Undermined Voting Rights, by Joshua A. Douglas.

The author correctly points out that “The Supreme Court of the United States is anti-democracy and anti-voter—and has been for far longer than you might think.” How long? Almost the entire history of the United States, at least since they started taking on voter cases, with the exception of the Warren Court. This particular book looks at the last half-century.

The book takes a look at nine terrible rulings the Supreme Court has made in the area of voting area over that time. The author looks at a variety of issues, such as gerrymandering, campaign finance, voter suppression and the destroying the Voting Rights Act. While the book was relatively short, it was still an excellent one.

I give this book an A. Goodreads requires grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, an A equates to 5 stars. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).

After finishing this book, I also added the audiobook to my collection.
